Home alarm system

Yesterday we got our home-alarm-system installed. It includes two infrared detectors and a smoke detector; all this is directly connected to the security center of Sector Alarm. With the system also comes a remote control with a so-called 'panick-button' which can be pressed in case we really feel unsafe. Of course I really hope I'll never have to use it.

Just like insurance, you pay a lot for it and you hope never to use it - you wouldn't call it wasted money, although sometimes it feels very much like that!

By the way: it keeps snowing! It snowed all yesterday and today the white flakes dance around the house as well. But... I just read in the papers that they expect rain from Saturday and the whole coming week. So we can't be that sure of a white x-mas yet.

Alarm...

Got a guy on the door one night last week. He proclaimed he was a seller for a well-known Norwegian security corporation (he actually mentioned which one, but I won't tell that here) and wanted to sell me a house-alarm-system with connection to their security 'nerve-center'.

My wife felt unsafe in her own house from that very moment; we just had to get an alarmsystem. Hmm ok, I was willing to look into it; so spoke with the guy on the phone a few days later and came to a reasonable agreement.

Bad luck for me: When he sent me the confirmation by email, (some of) the prices that we agreed upon during our telephone call had more than doubled! I immediately called him and asked why; the only answer I got was that he must've been tired during the phone conversation and named the wrong price for me. There was no chance I would get the complete system for such a low price.

Worse luck for the guy: I cancelled my order, so now he's got nothing. And that's what liars end up with: nothing.

I've investigated in competitive solutions and will contact another company next working day
